The Ibiza of clubbers' folklore still exists, but the luxury Ibiza has quietly become one of the Mediterranean's most refined island scenes. Agroturismo farm-hotels in the north, world-class beach clubs along the west coast, three Michelin stars between Ibiza and neighbouring Formentera, and some of Europe's best private villas - all in 90 minutes from Madrid or Barcelona.
Where to Stay - North or West Only
Avoid Playa d'en Bossa, San Antonio and Talamanca for luxury - these are the club zones. The luxury circuit lives in Santa Gertrudis, San Juan, Cala Jondal, and the western corner. Top hotels: Six Senses Ibiza at Cala Xarraca (the island's headline luxury opening); Atzaro Agroturismo in the north for the converted farmhouse feel; Cas Gasi for boutique romance; The Standard Ibiza for design-forward.
The Beach Clubs Worth Visiting
- Beach Club Tropicana Cala Jondal - the original luxury beach club, still the lunch of choice
- Amante Beach Club (Sol d'en Serra) - clifftop, the best sunset
- Cotton Beach Club (Cala Tarida) - newer, cleaner, less attitude
- Beach Pacha (formerly Lio Beach) - the most upscale Ibiza Town option
A daybed for two at the top clubs runs EUR 200-500 in season; pre-book your beach club daybeds and boat charters.
The Formentera Day Trip
30-minute fast ferry from Ibiza Town to Formentera - the Caribbean of the Mediterranean. Beso Beach and Juan y Andrea are the legendary beach lunches. Better still: hire a private boat from Ibiza Marina (EUR 1,500-3,000/day with skipper), anchor in turquoise Cala Saona for the morning, and arrive at Juan y Andrea by tender.
Fine Dining Worth Booking
- Es Tragon (San Antonio) - the island's two Michelin stars
- La Gaia at Ibiza Gran Hotel - one Michelin, Peruvian-Japanese
- The Giri Cafe in San Juan - garden tables, slow-cooked perfection
- Sa Capella - a deconsecrated chapel in San Antonio with the most romantic dinner on the island
The Hidden Coves
The famous beaches (Cala Comte, Cala Bassa) are now overrun. Better: Cala Salada, Cala Conta, Cala d'Hort (with the magical Es Vedra rock view), and Atlantis (Sa Pedrera de Cala d'Hort) - a hidden sandstone quarry pool accessible only by scramble. Bring water and reef shoes.
Day Spa & Wellness
Six Senses Spa, Atzaro Spa and the new Standard wellness floor offer Ibiza's most serious spa experiences. For something more local, Aguas de Ibiza Spa in Santa Eulalia is the island's best-value wellness option.
Tips Most Guides Miss

- Hire a small RIB or Zodiac at Sant Antoni Marina (EUR 200-300/day) - no licence needed for smaller engines
